With the end of term rapidly approaching, this week we enjoyed a wonderful treat in the form of our Christmas Market!
Led by Careers’ Enterprise team, the Christmas Market was created in association with the York Entrepreneurs Society as a chance for students to have a go at selling their wares to their fellow students.
This year we had 20 stalls with gifts ranging from the sweet and tasty to boutique bags and jewellery.
The Inbetween Collective at the Careers Christmas Market 2013.
The Inbetween Collective, came to sell prints and postcards from works featured in their exhibition currently showing at Bison Café (read the Nouse review for a flavour of this project).
Students from the University of Huddersfield came to sell home-made dream catchers and boutique jewellery from their business Custom Peace, while other York students had been working since July to produce handmade baubles, scarves, hats and bags.
There was also a huge range of very talented bakers represented, with many of these selling their goods for charity. Amongst the food-laden tables, some enterprising students brought along highly unusual Asian herbal teas and infusions flower sets.
If you’ve regretted missing out on this event (or would like to participate in our Market next year), please keep an eye on our events page and check out our Enterprise pages. We’re all feeling the festive spirit here by now and I’m sure you are too! If you do want to get in touch with us, we’re open as normal until the end of term.
You can ask us a question via the Careers Gateway, ring in Monday to Friday 10-5pm or come to our Information Room to study for your final assessments of term and check out our huge range of resources to help you plan your career this Christmas.
